When we say "vetted local pros," we mean it as a standard, not a slogan. Before a solar or roofing professional can receive homeowner matches through Energy Pros, they go through a screening process — and we expect them to keep meeting it. Here is what that involves and what you, as a homeowner, can expect.
What we check
- Licensing. Pros must hold the licenses required to operate in their state and trade.
- Insurance. We require active general liability coverage (and workers' compensation where applicable), so you are not exposed if something goes wrong on the job.
- Track record. We look at experience, reputation, and customer feedback — favoring established, well-reviewed local companies.
- Standing. We screen for serious unresolved complaints or patterns that would put homeowners at risk.
What we require of partners
Network professionals agree to treat homeowners with no-pressure professionalism, provide clear written quotes, honor their workmanship warranties, and comply with applicable consumer-protection and contractor laws. Pros who fall short of those expectations can be removed from the network.
What you can expect as a homeowner
- A licensed, insured local pro — not a random cold-caller.
- A written quote you can review on your own time.
- No obligation to move forward.
- The ability to compare more than one option.
Smart questions to ask any installer
Vetting on our end does not replace your own diligence. Before you sign anything, ask: Are you licensed and insured in my state? Can I see proof? What does your workmanship warranty cover and for how long? Is this a loan, lease, or PPA? Who handles permits and inspections? A good pro answers all of these clearly.
Note: vetting reduces risk but is not a guarantee of any outcome. Always review contracts carefully and verify licensing and insurance directly before work begins.
